About the Community College
(National Skill Qualification Frame Work)

Dr Harisingh Gour Vishwavidyalaya, Sagar strongly believes in all round development of the community.The establishment of Community College is a significant stepping stone towards realising students' aspirations. It opens the doors for specialized knowledge and a wider spectrum of careers, and gives opportunity to enhance skill of the learners. The courses undertaken by Community College such as Retail Management, Fashion Designing & Technology, Mushroom Cultivation & Processing, Organic Farming, Tourism etc. during the last 5 years have changed the mindset of the students and now they are motivated to turn towards self-entrepreneurship. The college provides pathways to the students that assist in making their dreams a reality. Skill enhancement bestows upon students’ opportunities and knowledge to develop and strengthen vital skills that are prerequisites for gaining, maintaining, and building one's career in a chosen area. Nevertheless, learning and growing are the hallmarks of personal development for everyone including students. Based on this rationale, Community College, Dr. Harisingh Gour Vishwavidyalaya (A Central University), Sagar took on board a one-year Diploma course in Mushroom Cultivation and Processing in 2015. The commencement of the one-year Diploma course by Community College with the support of University Grants Commission has been indeed a big step forward to benefit and improve livelihood of the rural community of Bundelkhand region and to continue their interest in skill development By the sustained and dedicated efforts of the University, four Diploma courses followed by 12 courses have begun in 2018 and 2019 respectively. In 2021, seven additional courses were launched to help students improve their skills. 19 courses are now being offered by this division of the university. |
